THESE (VALENTINE) DAYS
Friday, January 31, 2014
♥
Just a little glimpse into our home on this snowy Friday. I have been cleaning and decorating in anticipation for February. One of my favorite times of year, the month of love. Yes, even a Valentine tree has gone up ;) I am looking forward to a month of posts that are all about love, crafts, and foods colored in different shades of pink and red. I'm a sucker, so sue me ♥

THAT ONE TIME WE MET XANDER ...
This was by far the most fun I have had at the Cincinnati Comic Expo. I mean ... we met Xander. I wasn't a Buffy fan until later in life but Xander was definitely my second favorite character (after reformed Spike, naturally). The episode where Xander lost his eye devastated me and it felt so good to tell Mr. Brendon about these feelings ... I know. Major geek points for that- but whatever guys. He was super personable and a great hugger- he made my day!
Obviously we also met Iron Man, some Star Wars characters, and Nate met the Blue Ranger. It was fun, it was nerdy, and I am looking forward to next weekend when we visit the Columbus Con ... I won't even know what to do with myself with all this comic craziness concentrated into one weeks time!
Nate- you're a lucky man that I love and support you and can enjoy these shenanigans.
... I especially enjoyed Xander. Yup, I would hug him again. ♥

SNAPSHOTS
working on projects
enjoying wine with every dinner
trying my hand at terrariums
editing photos and drinking too much tea
It was an amazingly lazy yet productive three day weekend- I was so sad to see Monday roll around!
An upside of today? N and I made a crazy delicious dinner- Burgers (grass fed beef for him, black bean for me) braised cucumbers (mind.blowing) kale and spinach salad and fries. I have not made a meal that large in awhile and it was so fun to indulge in. I will for sure be sharing some of the recipes soon. I hope everyone else had amazing weekends too! ♥

SNAPSHOTS
These were taken sometime last week as a storm was rolling in- imagine the heavy air and the quiet rolls of thunder, and a lot of wind and that is what it felt like when we took these. The earth always feels so alive right before a storm, I love that kind of energy in the air!
Happy Fourth of July to all my fellow Americans- I hope it was a festive one! Ours was low key as it was raining all.day.long. My highlight was getting a phone call from my little sister- she graduates from basic training in one week and I am so incredibly excited to see her! Holidays like the Fourth and Memorial day have taken on such a different meaning since having a soldier in my life- my grandfathers were both in the military but I never saw that part of their lives so it always felt so removed. Now I understand that sense of pride a lot more and it actually makes a day like to today more exciting- I love celebrating the ones I love and what they do! So enjoy your fireworks, potato salad, friends, and family- I hope its a good one ♥
